We give thanks for the safe and successful running of 2025 Gospel Camp ‘Venture’ at Breakthrough Youth Village on 8-10 July despite the unstable weather conditions brought by Typhoon Danas. None of the activities designed was cancelled. On the contrary, campers were quite stunned by the scenes of sunset, heavy rain, squall and lightning; there were actually better visual & sound effects for certain programmes. God is majestic and always surprising!
The theme of the camp is ‘Venture’, or in Chinese, ‘與___同行’. Through a wide range of group games and activities, students explored the precious presence of friends, light, wisdom, relationships, time and God in our seemingly ordinary everyday life. Student leaders in Christian Fellowship exhibited increasing maturity and excellent leadership in organising the activities. We thank God for students’ positive responses to the Gospel message.
Reverend Jonathan Chee, an earlier School Chaplain of Lam Woo, came to the site on 9 July evening to host an evangelical meeting. He gave a humorous and touching sharing and also brought along his pet snake to play with us. Everyone was mesmerized by the presence of the cute little white snake, whose presence further illustrated the wondrous creativity and diversity of God the Creator.
We left the campsite tired yet immensely satisfied, having reaped fun time, friendships and growth of wisdom throughout the three days and two nights. Thanks and glory be to God and God alone! As we step into the summer break, we ask for His protection and peace over each of us. We pray that the seeds of knowledge and faith planted this year will continue to grow. May we carry the lessons of love, kindness and perseverance with us wherever we go!
